LEKOL KOREKTHO IN THOMONDE, HAITI
The Korektho school is for the disadvantaged children whose parents cannot afford to pay for their schooling nor provide them with proper tools to learn how to read & write.
We believe, “Learning to Read & Write is a Right” and we are determine to work hard to help the children of Thomonde, Haiti.
Last year the Korektho school had about 300 students, 8 teachers, 1 director and one custodian. We sent about $3650.00 for the school budget.
This year like every year, we are faced with demands from the teachers and other staff members for salary increase and the reconstruction of the school. According to the minister of the National Education in Haiti, Our school building doesn’t meet the required standard. Therefore there is a great urgency to rebuild.
We have the land and we need your help to help us find the funds and also donate to build a new school for the children of Thomonde, Haiti.
The demand for school in Haiti particularly in Thomonde is great. This year we have about 406 students and many that we had to say no to because the classrooms are already crowded and our present building is too small and is in a terrible condition.
We have 8 classes and the number of students for each class is between 37 to 64. The teachers and students of the Korektho school work very hard and for two years, the students of the Korektho school, won 1st prize in inter scholar competitions in their division.
